A simple and modern home: The minimalist interior design

The modern-minimalist interior design style uses only the necessary furniture and decorations. The accent is on the simplicity.

This design was influenced by the japanese architecture and the zen philosophy and it uses Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's motto - "Less is more".

The minimalism first appeared in the 19th century, in a response to the over decorated design of the previous period. Minimalist architecture became popular in the late 1980s in London and New York, where architects and designers worked to achieve simplicity, using white elements, cold lighting, large space with minimum objects and furniture.

You can still find some decorations, but they are simple. Use geometric shapes, without much details, simple materials and natural light.
